Cooking Up a Hooley in the Kitchen:

Sweet, Simple, and Oh So Fall

If you have never thought of, yet alone, tried Apple Shortcake, here is how to make what you have been missing.

Makes 4 servings

  • 4 Large Biscuits or Scones
  • 6 Apples I like a mix of Granny Smith and Gala
  • 3 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ½ cup White Granulated Sugar
  • ½ cup Caramel Sauce
  • 8 dollops of Whipped Cream
  • The beauty of this recipe is that you can make it all from scratch and as homemade as you like or make it entirely from store-bought ingredients.
  • You can make the biscuits or scones or buy some wonderful ones from local bakeries.
  • Peel and slice the apples. Toss in the sugar and cinnamon and set aside. If you are adventurous, pick the apples yourself from one of the many fruit farms we have in this area.
  • Slide the biscuit or scone in half and place both sides open faced in a bowl or dish.

These can be warm or room temperature.

Top with whipped cream – this can be from a can, tub, or made from scratch.

A bowl, whisk, some heavy whipping cream, a little powdered sugar, and a splash of vanilla and you have amazing, whipped cream.

Drizzle caramel sauce over the top.  Again, this can be warm or room temperature.

Enjoy.
