BORDERLIGHT THEATRE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 2026 SPECIAL EVENTS

BorderLight Theatre Festival, taking place July 8-11 in Cleveland’s Playhouse Square District, is thrilled to announce an exciting slate of special events as part of this year’s four-day celebration of the arts. Featuring opening night festivities, free cultural programming, community gatherings, and a festival finale, these events offer audiences and artists additional ways to engage while celebrating the spirit of BorderLight beyond the stage.

OPENING NIGHT EVENT

Fringe Unleashed | Previews. Pop Ups. Live Performances.
Wednesday, July 8 | 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM

Ticket Price: $11.25 (includes fees)

Start your BorderLight experience at the Opening Night celebration – Fringe Unleashed, an energetic evening featuring live performances, artist previews, and interactive pop-up experiences. Guests can enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, roaming performers, and fast-paced show pitches while connecting with artists and fellow festivalgoers before the four-day festival gets underway.

The International Plaza

Experience the global spirit of BorderLight at the International Plaza, a free outdoor showcase of music, dance, and cultural performances at the Playhouse Square Plaza. Audiences can enjoy everything from traditional Chinese and Japanese dance to Irish dance, Kung Fu and Tai Chi demonstrations, family-friendly circus acts, K-pop-inspired performances, Shakespeare scenes, and an energetic street dance battle featuring some of Cleveland’s top dancers. Whether you stop by for a few minutes or stay for an afternoon, the International Plaza offers a vibrant celebration of cultures, artistic traditions, and community.

The Faces of BorderLight: A Live Mural by Guice Mann

Inspired by BorderLight’s 2026 festival artwork, Cleveland artist Guice Mann will create a vibrant live mural featuring an abstract arrangement of expressive faces. Drawing on the energy of performance, 90s-inspired aesthetics, and the diversity of Cleveland’s creative community, the piece serves as a visual tribute to the artists and stories that make BorderLight possible.

Charlie Malta, known professionally as Guice Mann (Juice Man), is a Cleveland-based multidisciplinary artist recognized for his colorful geometric murals, immersive installations, and community-focused public art. A longtime member of the city’s creative community, he has created work for organizations and destinations across the region, including IngenuityFest, Slavic Village Development’s Rooms To Let Festival, Boom’s Pizza, and other local businesses and community partners.

Linedance is My Therapy

CLOSING NIGHT EVENT

Fringe Finale Wrap and Awards Party

Ticket Price: FREE | $10 suggested donation | reservations required

Celebrate the conclusion of the 2026 BorderLight Theatre Festival with Fringe Finale, the festival’s closing-night gathering honoring the artists, audiences, and supporters who make the event possible. The evening will feature awards, special recognitions, and a final opportunity to connect with artists and fellow festivalgoers.

This event is free to attend, with a suggested donation of $10. Registration is required.

FESTIVAL TICKET INFORMATION

Tickets are available online or by phone (216.356.6485). Single ticket prices range from $11.50 to $38, with ticket packs from $60 to $156. The festival is also offering 14 free shows and special events.

Festival Guides are available at coffee houses, restaurants, libraries, and businesses throughout downtown Cleveland and surrounding neighborhoods. The Festival Guide is also available in digital form on the BorderLight Theatre Festival website.
