Editor’s Corner: Irish Unity in Film and in Action

iIrish was proud to host the premier of the Murder of a GAA Chairman documentary, along with Cleveland GAA, West Side Irish American Club, Our Lady of the Rosary LAOH, Boland Berry AOH, Bluestone AOH, and Deirfiúr Sisters of Charity LAOH. After the film, documentary director Trevor Birney and family solicitor Niall Murphy shared insights, anecdotes from before, during and after the film journey and current updates as the case is making its way through the Four Courts and barriers along the way, today.

There was a bit of a get-together after at The Harp, where more stories were told … but those shall stay where they happened.

We are proud of our staff too: Blowin’ in Columnist Sue Mangan celebrates her 18th Anniversary with iIrish; Field of Glory Columnist Vince Beach celebrates his 9th and Dr. Fred Peters celebrates his 4th. We are so blessed to be able to bring their expertise, skill and perspective to you each month. To each, we thank you and look forward to celebrating with you too!

Irish Unity

Irish unification efforts continue and grow in number across the U.S. Large events in Chicago, Nashville and Cincinnati continue what was started in Cleveland and are spreading unification facts and the efforts by so many on both sides of the pond. Be sure you are checking iIrish for the updates added daily, weekly and monthly; the seeds have been planted “as the barley grew up out of the grave.”

There have been a few new additions to the website and the iIrish Merch offerings, check them both out at iirish.us. All the stories in the print edition are online, but the content online dwarfs what’s in print.

Speak Irish Cleveland Classes

Speak Irish Cleveland wrapped up its 11th year last month and will return in September. More instructors are needed as our class size grows and grows. If you are fluent or close enough to get along, we need to add to our team of instructors and assistants. For further info about being a teacher or a student, contact me to learn more. It is a great activity to share with your family and connects the roots we all love in ways unimagined.

See the What’s the Craic? Festival Focus, Taking the Fields of Glory, and so much more within for all craic, and the details too.

iIrish is made in America. America is 250 next year. Things we think about are talked about, this month in Madigan Muses and in Donnybrook columns within.

We have always been green and are proudly Irish, all year long.
