On October 20th, during a discussion in the House of Commons on the Government’s Legacy Bill, Conservative Party MP David Davis spoke about what he called “IRA lawyers” and said that they were “more interested in drama than justice.”

John Finucane MP sent him a letter the following day, saying in part, “In January 1989, your Conservative colleague Douglas Hogg stood in Westminster and made similarly sinister ‘IRA lawyers’ remarks about solicitors. Less than four weeks later, my father, Pat Finucane, was murdered by loyalists acting in collusion with British state forces,” John Finucane wrote to Davis.
“I was eight-years-old. I watched my father being shot dead in front of me, in our family home.”
