You may have noticed that we publish A Letter from Ireland, by Ciarán Quinn, Sinn Féin Representative to the United States; it comes to us every Friday, and we post it that day or, like this week, today (https://iirish.us/2026/08/17/the-fleadh-comes-to-belfast/).
Why don’t we publish such news or updates from other political parties in Ireland?
There are plenty of them (in addition to Sinn Féin, others include Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, Social Democrats, Labour Party, Aontú, Independent Ireland, Green Party, People Before Profit–Solidarity, and at least eight more that fulfill requirements to be registered as a party, no matter their size).
Because, despite numerous invitations, only Sinn Féin, not a single other person or party has responded, at all, or sent/send us … anything.
We want to share perspectives from all the major parties, but we can’t force them to share that perspective, or their news/updates. I will continue trying.
If you can help move the ball, let me know.
[Side note:]
An overview of the parties that I like is: A Guide to the Political Parties of Ireland by Jonas Laursen, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9v5K3ENhME
It was published in October of 2025, BEFORE the 2026 election, where additional historic firsts were made by Sinn Féin. Sinn Féin became the majority and the first Nationalist party, winning seven of 18 seats in 2022.
