Wisdom Earned and Passed on is Less Expensive

FIRST AND FOREMOST, our hearts go out to Cooking Up a Hooley Columnist Katie Gagne, who lost her husband Robert just before Christmas I can’t begin to express our sorrow adequately to the whole Gagne family, whose loss is so amplified at this time of the year.

A new you? It may surprise you to know it, but we really like you just the way you are – we know it doesn’t get said nearly enough. May your feet bring you to where your heart is.

Our 19 years and your support in taking us to where we want to be as well – the journey is a big part of the fun, certainly, the impact too. You may have noticed our announcement with the end of our 19th year in December; iIrish has donated more than $425,000 to local and national charities since our 2006 inception. It has been such a hard year for so many of us, but we shan’t ignore the call to help others.

I know many of you are heading out on cruises to take advantage of the warmer weather – please heed my and so many other’s warnings, born of experience – make sure you book with a reputable agent like Pat Hollywood at Travel Connection or Mary Pat Flanagan at JEM Tours. Don’t get ripped off for thousands of dollars by Tim Vaughan, like I and others that you know did. Vaughn runs Gerry Quinn’s tours.

Like one of the others that you know said, “I tried to work it out like an adult, saving everybody trouble and hassle, and had no choice but to make it a legal matter.”

Vaughn doesn’t like it when I talk publicly about my experience, or the experience of others referenced above. In retaliation, Vaughn banned me from Gerry’s radio show for doing so – but, like I said above, we try to help others from being hurt by the dishonesty of others.

Depending on whether you believe Vaughn or me, he owes me between $2,000 and $2,950. I even said fine, pay the $2,000 and we’ll be done with it. He refused – so I believe he never intended to pay it at all. Book carefully, talk to others who have been before you, and heed their warnings to avoid being scammed yourself.

The Merry Madness celebrations begin THIS month, because a March month is NOT enough time to do it right. For example: the Honorees celebrations start, the touring troupes start (one of my favorites, NY’s Ryan McCombe, plays Cinci, Cleveland (PJ’s and IACES) on three consecutive nights, 1/16 thru 18, – cannot wait) is merely the start to what is going to be a fantastic quarter of gratitude for all that our IA culture offers us front and center, right before our very eyes.
