Giving thanks

A Letter from Ireland

The world has gotten very small and not always in a good way. On Monday, I was in Dunshaughlin, County Meath and plastered across a shop was a banner advertising a Black Friday Sale.

It struck me that the concept of Black Friday had made its way to a small town in Ireland, and Thanksgiving had not. I suppose that is the power of commerce.

I like the idea of Thanksgiving, of sharing time with friends and family. Giving thanks for what we have and remembering those who have less.

In that vein, I would like to thank all those who have worked over the past year to promote the cause of Irish Unity in the USA and Canada. For those whom I have met along the road and continue to inspire us, to challenge us and to share with us their hopes for the future, thank you.

Have a great Thanksgiving.
