All Our Yesterdays Kicks Off the New iIrish Film Hub October 9th!
All Our Yesterdays began in 2015, after documentary Producer Breege Rowley was told that someone had thrown away their family’s cinefilm. Inspiration broke ground, inspiring her to archive the lived history of the Swinford, Co. Mayo community before it was lost forever. That is part of our goal at iIrish too – preserve, present, promote – our rich culture has much to offer … Lend me your hand, can you feel my heart beating? Do you understand? Can you feel the pain?
Breege interviewed approximately 70 people, capturing their personal stories spanning from the penal laws through the famine, the Land League, Michael Davitt and into more recent history, with many participants sharing family letters, photographs, and music that provided authentic insights into the Irish immigrant experience.
Creating an Irish movie hub in and for Greater Cleveland and this section of Mid America is so important to me and iIrish. Film has had a significant impact in and on the Irish journey and so has the Capitol Theatre.
I hope to see you at the premier October 9th. Surely our first film couldn’t be better – it is first in this time; we can’t wait to see you next time.
