









The Rock of Cashel
Known as the “High King of Irish Monuments,” Cashel was the seat of the King of Munster, which is one of the four provinces of Ireland (Ulster, Munster, Connaught, Leinster). Northern Ireland, in the Province of Ulster, has six counties, like our states. Ireland was divided from southern Ireland, with 26 counties, now The Republic of Ireland, following the Easter Rising in 1916 and Treaty, the resultant Irish Civil War over the treaty dividing the country when the south was called The Irish Free State. Then paperwork planned delays by the British Government to thwart implementation, until the establishment of The Republic of Ireland, finally recognized as a separate country, in 1949.
