Tionól Gaeilge UCD offering chance for language learners abroad to travel to Ireland for Bliain na Gaeilge

Clár Ní Bhuachalla, Bainisteoir Tionscadail Bhord na Gaeilge UCD, explains:
“Due to the great success of Tionól Gaeilge UCD 2017, University College Dublin’s Bord na Gaeilge has decided to run the event again this year.  Tionól Gaeilge UCD is a summer school, organised by UCD and Gaelchultúr, for adults who wish to learn or improve their Irish.”

The course will take place on UCD’s Belfield Campus, Dublin 4, from Monday 2nd of July until Friday 6th of July 2018.  The course will comprise of classes, lectures and social events.

Ciste Bhliain na Gaeilge is offering an Irish language learner or speaker the chance to win a scholarship to attend this course free of charge.  The scholarship is worth €1,000 (the fee to attend the summer school and to be provided with accommodation for five nights on campus is €600, with an extra €400 contributed towards travel costs).

During Tionól Gaeilge UCD, language classes will be held each day. How many different levels will be available?

Send the answer to this question in an e-mail, titled “Comórtas” to Bainisteoir Tionscadail Bhord na Gaeilge UCD Clár Ní Bhuachalla at [email protected] before 17.00 GMT, on Tuesday, 5th of June 2018.  The winner will be announced on social media before the end of the month, after being contacted directly.

Tionól Gaeilge UCD will be based in Belfield, the University’s main campus which is located in a beautiful 133 hectre parkland setting with a 5 km woodland walkway and a 50 meter swimming pool. The campus is within easy reach of Dublin city centre and there is a direct bus link from Dublin airport. Please note that applicants must be resident outside Ireland for a minimum of 12 months. Bliain na Gaeilge is a community project that has over 50 Irish-language, Gaeltacht, and cultural groups taking part in the organisation of the project, including the GAA, TG4, USI and RTÉ. The Government of Ireland is also officially supporting Bliain na Gaeilge and a committee has been formed to coordinate that support.
