This Just In: Scotland’s Award-wining Skerryvore Release Original Holiday Song, “Angel of Christmas”

Scotland’s award-wining SKERRYVORE, release original holiday song “Angel of Christmas”

Vocalist and composer Alec Dalglish says, “With ‘Angel of Christmas’ I wanted to write a song for the season which was reminiscent of the Christmas songs I remember as a kid. In a world of consumerism and self-absorption, I hope that the message of the song and our tie with our chosen charity encourages us all to be more altruistic. Christmas can be a beautiful occasion for celebration and community but it can become a more difficult and lonely time for many others. We’re probably all guilty of focusing on the trials and tribulations of our own lives, and Christmas is a great opportunity to look outward and think about what we could do to help those less fortunate even in the smallest way possible. It’s for this reason that we want this song to support Cash for Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ campaign.”

Hailing from Glasgow, Skerryvore are three-time winners of Scotland’s ‘Live Act of the Year’ award and one of the country’s leading forces in a thriving live music scene. With a mix of bagpipes, fiddles, accordions, and whistles, alongside guitar and vocals, underpinned by driving bass, drums and keys, this 8-piece group represents the best in contemporary Scottish traditional music. Since 2004, Skerryvore has released 7 studio albums. Their most recent, Tempus (April 2023) went to # 1 in both the Official Scottish Album and UK Folk Albums charts and entered the top 40 in the Official UK Charts. Skerryvore has brought their high energy performances to audiences across the globe performing in major venues and to festival crowds in the USA, Canada, Australia and throughout the UK and Europe.
