August is the heart of the summer, when school is on the horizon,

but there is still much to do in sports, music, events and celebrations.  Festivals (and the 16th Annual Festival Focus Series) continue, with festivals in Lakewood, Dublin and Iowa this month. See the Fest Focus series within for lineups and highlights.

“A country without a language is a country without its soul,” said Irish freedom leader, fighter and hero Patrick Pearse. Speak Irish classes restart on September 14th – registration is required for this 10-week session, so check out the ad within and submit your registrations before it is sold out. All levels are welcome.

Cleveland hosts the Midwest Championships in men’s and women’s Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie this year, from August 4-6.  We are rallying around this opportunity to showcase our offerings to visitors and soon to be friends alike, plus there is always room for more.

Check out Cleveland GAA to see where help is needed, to learn more about Irish sports here in America, or to explore if you would like to play yourself.  All levels are welcome, and the social benefits of involvement are extensive, outstanding and very fun. Two weeks later, the US National Championships take place, this year in Denver.

The Bluestone Hibernians are hosting a mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine on August 20th.  All are welcome and a grande social will be held after.  No reservation necessary, just come pray with us, then play with us too.
